What the Course Covers
- Assess emergency situations and deliver CPR
- Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

- Respond to major illnesses, poisoning, anaphylaxis, and eye injuries
- Carry out secondary surveys and maintain first aid records
Duration & Entry Requirements
Format: 5–6 hours online learning, followed by 2 days of classroom training in Glasgow (9:00am–5:00pm).
Age Requirement: 16+ years.
Language Skills: Learners must have basic reading, writing, and communication skills.
No prior experience required – open to all individuals and employees.
Assessment
To achieve the qualification, you will complete:
- Practical assessment – continuous observation of first aid techniques.
- Multiple-choice exam – 30 questions, 45 minutes, pass mark 70%.
- Additional oral questioning available if needed.
Certification
- Successful candidates will receive a Highfield Award in First Aid at Work (SCQF Level 6).
- Certificate valid for 3 years.
- Fully compliant with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
- Annual refreshers recommended to maintain skills.
